LGBT Safe Zone barbecue slated

Montana State University-Northern’s Office of Diversity Awareness and Multicultural Programs invites  those on campus and in the broader Havre community to a barbeque.

Christina Estrada Underwood, director of the office, said the barbecue is meant to welcome back LGBT members of the campus and those who support them.

She said that her office works to be an “LGBT Safe Zone,” a place  where those who identify as LGBT can go for support and develop alliances with those who don’t.

Underwood said that in the event of rain, the barbecue will be relocated to the social room in family housing on campus.

The barbecue will take place at 7 p.m Thursday in the picnic area by the Student Union Building on campus. Hot dogs, salad, s'mores and beverages will be served.

Underwood said the barbecue is free and open to the public.
