The Chippewa Cree Election Board has released the name of 43 candidates who have filed to run for four seats on the Chippewa Cree Business Committee and six others for Business Committee Chairman.
Deadline to file to run in the Oct 11 primaries was Sept 21. The notice says voting will take place on the day of the primary elections between 8 a.m and 8 p.m.
A public notice released by the sixdates running for tribal chair are Ken St. Marks, Alvin Windy Boy Jr .; Business Committee members Harlan Baker Gopher and Beau Mitchell; state Rep. Gilbert Bruce Meyers, R-Box Elder, who is also a candidate for the state Senate; and Thomas Roasting Stick Sr.
Names of the candidates vying for the four committee seats up this year were also released. Incumbent Dustin Whitford has not filed to run for another term. The candidates who filed are:

The eight top vote getters for the council candidates and the top two for chair in the primary will then advance to the general election scheduled for Nov 8.
The public notice says no voter registration is required to take part in tribal elections. However all voters must be at least 18 years of age on Oct 11, be a duly enrolled member of the tribe and have on them a tribal ID card when they show up to vote that day at the Old Stone Child College Gym.
