Election starts for absentee voters

With the general election only a few weeks away, and absentee ballots available Tuesday and being mailed out Friday, the Havre Daily News will provide information about candidates in local races throughout the week.

The coverage starts today with the race for House District 27 that stretches from the Canadian border in western Hill and in Liberty counties down to Cascade county just outside of Great Falls.

Other races will be covered throughout the week.

The Havre Daily also will provide a candidate forum Thursday starting at 6 p.m. in Hensler Auditorium on the Montana State University-Northern campus.

While some candidates have said they have conflicts and cannot attend, the majority of candidates in local races have pledged to be at the forum.

The Havre Daily is providing the candidates who cannot attend the opportunity to send a statement that will be read for them at the forum.
