Letter to the Editor - Impressed with Romano

Editor,

As the mother of two children who thrived in Montana public schools, I know how important education is to our children’s future. In my work with teachers and public employees, I’ve been fortunate to know many of the people running for statewide office in Montana. I am impressed with Melissa Romano, who is running for Montana Superintendent of Public Instruction.

Melissa is a classroom teacher who loves her students and the teaching profession. She is an outstanding, master teacher. Denise Juneau, our current superintendent, can’t run for re-election due to term limits. Melissa understands that the role of superintendent is to lead Montana’s schools, to work to improve our already outstanding schools. She will continue Denise Juneau’s good work through Graduation Matters so that every Montana child graduates from high school, career or college ready.

Melissa Romano is a mother herself. She knows how essential parents, families and communities are to our children’s education. She knows basic skills are important, but we also need to inspire children’s natural curiosity, imagination and love of learning.

Melissa knows strong public schools are the backbone of our communities. Unlike her opponent, Melissa will fight to keep public money in public schools.

It’s wonderful to have such a qualified and inspiring candidate on the ballot. Vote Melissa Romano!
