Man arrested on suspicion of pointing a gun at another

A man was arrested early today after allegedly pointing a gun at someone in the parking lot of a First Street business.

Eric William Brewer of Havre, 23, was arrested on suspicion of assault with a weapon and carrying a concealed weapon.

Havre Police Department Chief Gabe Matosich said a witness was in a parking lot on First Street  when he saw a man point a gun at another. The witness then called the police at 12:12 a.m.

Officers found Brewer near an 11th Street West business later. Matosich said Brewer had a gun on him and does not have a conceal carry permit, so cannot legally conceal a firearm. Brewer was then arrested.

No further details as to why Brewer allegedly pointed the gun or whether the two men involved know each other were made available.

The charges against Brewer are pending and, as of this morning, he was listed on the Hill County Detention Center roster without bond on the assault with a weapon charge.
