Angel Care in-home care sets fundraiser

An in-home health care company is holding a fundraiser Saturday to help meet the needs of local low-income elderly and disabled residents.

The Angel Care LLC fundraiser, running from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Havre Eagles Club, will benefit the company's Angel Fund, used to cover the cost of providing assisted living to low-income elderly people and people with disabilities who are eligible but on the waiting list for Medicare waivers, said Angela McGillivray, owner and administrator of Angel Care.

The fundraiser will include music from Vern and Debbie Cichosz, a raffle, live auction and a $7-per-plate taco bar.

McGillivray said Angel Care has received donations from 50 area businesses to auction and raffle off including a Roku TV, a tool set and a clock from Heirloom Jewelers.

She said people can be on the Medicare waiting list for up to a year, and if their basic needs aren't addressed, they end up in a nursing home.

Services Angel Care provides include bathing, grooming, meal preparation, daily home visits, lawn care, snow removal, hospice care and basic assisted daily living.

She said that she and Cory Haberger started Angel Care in July, after seeing people being forced to sell their homes, farms and other assets to be  able to afford basic care and assisted living needs.

McGillivray said she started volunteering when she was 12 years old. She has worked as a CNA and later an administrator at Timber Creek.

McGillivray manages the CNAs and PCAs working for Angel Care, while Haberger is in charge of maintenance, snow removal and lawn care.

They also provide help filling in for people who provide care for elderly or disabled loved ones, giving them a break.

McGillivray said Angel Care offers hourly packages ranging from 31 hours at  $650 a month to 93 hours for $1750 a month.

As a home care provider, McGillivray said Angel Care is unable to accept Medicare but as a Medicaid waiver provider does take Medicaid.

Angel Care LLC is located in Suite 102 of the District 4 HRDC Building on Fifth Avenue. For more information about the fundraiser or services they provide, contact Angel Care at 265-6743, ext. 1102.
