HHS spikers earn Central A honors

The Montana high school volleyball season is now officially in the books and that means that it's time to hand out postseason awards.

The Central A Conference, which had two representatives at the Class A state tournament last week in Bozeman, announced its All-Conference and All-State selections this week.

The Havre High volleyball team, which made it to the second day of the Eastern A Divisional tournament, and finished 9-14 this season, had two players named Central A All-Conference for the year.

Senior Jacey McDonald was one of the Blue Ponies who made the list and earned Second Team All-Conference honors after leading the conference in blocks with 40. Havre High junior Paige Nelson was also selected Second-Team All-Conference. Nelson was a solid all-around player for HHS, showing some skill around the net and proving to be a strong defender. She tied for seventh in the conference in digs with 178.

Of the five Central A players who made the All-State team, two were from Belgrade, two from Lewistown and one was from Livingston. Bailey Christensen and Shania Neubauer represented the Panthers, while Carly Carpenter and Mikayla Comes made it for Lewistown. Aleah Peterson of Livingston also made the team.

While the All-State list had just five players from the Central A, the First Team All-Conference list had six, as Bailey Collins, joined Peterson, Comes, Carpenter, Christensen and Neubauer on the Central A First Team.

McDonald and Nelson also joined Anna Zimmer of Lewistown, Taylor Christensen of Belgrade, Lauren Emter of Livingston and Olivia Hall of Browning on the All-Conference Second Team.

Tara Taylor of Lewistown was also named the Coach of the Year.
