Man sentenced for stealing tires and rims

Tyler Harrison, born in 1995, received a three-year deferred imposition of sentence for the offense of obtaining unauthorized control over stolen property, a felony.

The sentence, which is pursuant to a plea deal, can be erased from Harrison's record if he abides by its conditions.

According to court documents, a man called the Hill County Sheriff's Office Dec. 20, 2014, to report that four wheels, tires and sensors had been stolen from a wrecked pickup truck that he was storing.

After deputy responded to the scene, the man told the deputy that he did not know where the jacks holding the pickup off the ground came from. The deputy recorded to whom the vehicle was registered and also spotted some footprints and tire tracks in the area.

Two days later, the deputy went to a shop in Inverness, where she learned about the size and make of the tires that were put on the wrecked pickup.

The deputy received information July 15, 2015, that Harrison had pawned four tires and rims. The deputy spoke to someone who worked at the pawn shop, who said he bought four tires on rims from Harrison April 15, 2015, and that one of the rims was damaged.

After further investigating, the deputy found that the person who the truck is registered under had a receipt on which the repair facility had written that one of the wheels was bent.

The pawn shop owner released the tires and rims July 31, 2015, to the man who made the theft report.

Harrison was arrested and charged with the felony.
