Obituary: Jerry Meagher

Jerry Michael Meagher of Idaho Falls, Idaho, 77, passed away Nov. 23, 2016, at MorningStar Senior Living Center. He was under the care of Abode Hospice.

Jerry was born July 1, 1939, in Great Falls, Montana, to Stanley G. Meagher and Dorothy Schaefer Meagher. He grew up and attended schools in Great Falls and graduated from Great Falls High School. He also attended Northern Montana College in Havre, Montana, where he earned an associate degree in agriculture. Jerry served in the Montana National Guard.

Dec. 2, 1961, he married Judith Louise Sprague in Great Falls, Montana. To this union were born two sons, Brandt and Mitchell. Jerry and Judy made their home in Havre, Montana, where Jerry was self-employed as a farmer and later owned a radiator business. Jerry and Judy moved to Idaho Falls to retire in 1999.

He was an avid outdoorsman and horseman. He enjoyed his family, hunting, fishing and farming.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Judith Louise Meagher of Idaho Falls; son, Brandt (Caroline) Meagher of Idaho Falls; son, Mitchell Meagher of Idaho Falls; sister, Sharon Roberts of Great Falls; grandchildren, Katie, Michelle, Bronsyn and Victoria Meagher of Idaho Falls; nieces, Terry and Totsie of Montana; nephews, Spud and Tony of Montana.

He was preceded in death by his father, Stanley G. Meagher, and mother, Dorothy Meagher.

A celebration of life with friends and family was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 26. 2016, at the home of Brandt and Caroline Meagher in Idaho Falls.
