Obituary: Deedie Mae (Bitz) Nimmick

Deedie Mae (Bitz) Nimmick, 63, passed away peacefully in her sleep due to complications of early onset Alzheimer's Dec. 8, 2016, at Sweet Memorial Home in Chinook.

Deedie was born Aug. 22, 1953, in Havre, to Reinholt and Lucille Bitz, the youngest of two children. The family lived in Havre where Deedie attended school until her junior year, when the family moved to the farm west of Box Elder, and she transferred to Big Sandy High School. She met her high school sweetheart Garland Nimmick and their life together began on April 9, 1971. They soon had two boys, Chad & Jason. The small family moved several times over the next few years including to a farm in Idaho. The last move in 1988 was to her family's farm west of Box Elder, where they have lived ever since.

Deedie loved flowers and was very creative with them, at one time owning her own flower shop, "Flowers with a Flair." Deedie loved life on the farm and spending time with her family. But when the time permitted, she and Garland took the kids and headed for Holter Lake, even though it always meant hauling more driftwood home!

Deedie was preceded in death by her parents, Reinholt and Lucille Bitz, and one nephew.

She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Garland Nimmick; sons, Chad (Hollie) Nimmick of Emerald Queensland, Australia, and Jason (Heather) of Havre; grandchildren, Derek, Brayden, Jake, Ashlyn, Zac and Ted Nimmick; her brother Richard (Vickie) of Missoula; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be held late in January. Memorials may be made to Sweet Home in Chinook, Big Sandy Medical Center, or the charity of one's own choosing.
