Obituary: Lawrence Winkenweder

Lawrence Winkenweder, 84, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle, passed away Thursday, Jan. 5, 2017.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 2630 W. Freeway, Ste. 250, Fort Worth, TX 76102.

Lawrence was born in Havre, Montana, Oct. 10, 1932, to Lloyd and Mearl Nystrom Winkenweder. Rumor has it that they paid the doctor with a crate of eggs for his birth.

Lawrence and Melba were camp hosts in Glacier National Park, Montana, and liked going to Arizona in the winter, playing card games and reading. He enjoyed RVing and being with people. He was a member and past president of Allegro RV Club. For over 30 years, Lawrence had a career in banking, retiring at age 58 from Citibank.

Lawrence is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Melba Winkenweder; sons, Brett and wife, Debbie, Bruce, and Barry Winkenweder and wife, Pamela; brother, Don and wife, Gloria; sister, Sharon Daum; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and loving family members.
