Suspected Beaver Creek Park cabin burglar arrested

Garrick Allan Ferguson was arrested Tuesday afternoon and is accused of breaking into a Beaver Creek Park cabin and stealing a flat screen TV and a miter saw.

Ferguson is charged with felony burglary, felony theft and misdemeanor criminal mischief.

Court charging documents say a deputy with the Hill County Sheriff’s Office responded Dec. 8 to a burglary call of a Beaver Creek Park cabin. The callers said they had surveillance video of a man breaking into the cabin.

The deputy watched the video and believed the man to be Ferguson, the documents say.

In the video, which was recorded Nov. 26, Ferguson is seen breaking into the cabin and then going through cabinets, cupboards and drawers, documents say.

Ferguson appears from the rooms carrying a miter saw and a flat panel television and is about to leave when he notices the two surveillance cameras.

“The individual tried to cover his face multiple times with the hood of his shirt and his hands,” the document says.

He then disconnects the cameras.

After seeing the video, the responding deputy contacted a probation officer — the document says the deputy knew Ferguson was a probationer — who ultimately identified Ferguson as the man in the video.

Court documents say the door to the cabin had been damaged and $1,798 in possessions were taken.
