Hi-Line Athletes of the Week

Lillian Gopher, Box Elder Girls Basketball

The Box Elder girls basketball team has depth and talent all over its roster, and every week it seems a different player leads the way. This past week, that player was Lilly Gopher. In two Box Elder wins, Gopher averaged 15 points for the Bears, including scoring a season-high 20 points in the Bears’ 68-25 win over Hays-Lodge Pole last Saturday night. Gopher is in her second year as a starter for the Bears, as she was a big part of Box Elder’s run to the Class C state championship game last March, as well as the 2017 9C title the Bears won.

Tate Niederegger, Chinook Wrestling

Chinook senior Tate Niederegger is chasing a third straight Class C individual state championship this winter. And, the superstar wrestler took another step toward that goal Saturday when he captured the 145-pound title at the always-tough Choteau Classic. Niederegger, who is also a two-time Class C All-State football player, pinned his way to the final in Choteau, where he then pinned Cascade’s Robbie Coleman. Niederegger will be honored when the Beeters celebrate senior night Friday.
