City approves applying for $1.3M grant for airport

The Havre City Council voted 5-0 at their meeting Monday night to allow the Havre City-County Airport Board to submit a federal assistance grant application to the Federal Aviation Administration for a project to rehabilitate the airport’s taxiway and runway.

Council members Andrew Brekke, Matthew Boucher and Brian Barrows were absent.

Havre City Clerk/Finance Director Doug Kaercher said Tuesday that $1,341,000 for the project will come from the FAA.

Construction on the project could begin as early as July and bidding will begin the third Thursday of April, Kaercher said.
