Obituary: Velma Madla

Velma Madla of Havre, Montana, 69, passed peacefully at her home Monday, March 20, 2017, the first day of spring.

Her viewing will be today, Wednesday, March 22, 2017, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Holland & Bonine Funeral Home. Her memorial service will be 3 p.m. Friday at the Holland & Bonine Funeral Chapel with her burial to follow at the Highland Cemetery. A fellowship gathering in Velma's honor will be held at the North Central Senior Citizen's Center, 2 Second Street West in Havre.

Velma was born March 3, 1948, to Eliza (Bahr) Clevenger and Victor Nomee in Fort Belknap, Montana. Everyone knew her as Bubbles. She was very well-known in the Havre community. She had a heart of gold and always was willing to help others. She enjoyed watching television, especially her Western movies, and reading Western books. She also enjoyed putting puzzles together. She went to Feed My Sheep Soup Kitchen every day and enjoyed visiting with her friends there.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Betty Bahr; and brothers, Lester Bahr and Maynard Bahr.

Velma is survived by her two sons, Billy Madla of Shelby, Montana, and Lija (Juanita) Huntley of Rocky Boy, Montana; brothers, Jess Bahr of Great Falls and Gary Clevenger of Havre; sisters, Mona Winchell and Joyce Clevenger of Great Falls, Ethel Clevenger of Sacramento, California, Avis Chenoweth of Missoula, Evelyn Cochran of Box Elder, Montana, Louise Huntley of Washington and Mavis Werach of Henderson; her life-long friends and care taker Selena Valdez and her most-beloved Evelyn Havskjold; numerous nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
