Maxine was born July 28, 1941, in Havre to Leo and Ione (Converse) Drong. She was raised in Havre and attended school there, graduating in 1959 from Havre Central High School. Sept. 26, 1959, Maxine married Joseph Peter Folk at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church. The union was blessed with four children and they raised them on the family farm near Kremlin.

Maxine worked as the school secretary in Kremlin as the kids attended school; after she and Joe moved to Havre in 1983, she provided child care. Caring for others was Maxine's gift, and she loved all those she attended to. She was very involved in the St. Jude's parish; she was a member of the Catholic Daughters, prayer shawl crochet circle and church choir, and served and prepared many luncheons over the years. She was also involved in the Red Hat Society. Maxine enjoyed spending time in the Bears Paw Mountains and often the family would go for picnics there. She was a ferocious card player; her best was pinochle.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Joseph; her son, Michael; and her parents.

Maxine is survived by her children, Beth (David) George of Fountain Valley, Arizona, Kathy (Amy Fladland) Folk of Missoula, Montana, and Tim Folk of Havre; brother, Kenneth (Linda) Drong of Havre; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren, and two more on the way.
