Havre schools salute seniors Sunday

Havre Public Schools are inviting senior citizens to a celebration of their support Sunday at Havre Middle School.

“If you qualify for any ‘senior’ discount, consider yourself invited as we celebrate the contributions you’ve made to our schools,” the district said in a press release.

This year’s version of the annual event starts at noon Sunday with a free brunch served at 12:30 p.m. followed by a program of student entertainment.

People can look at student artwork and industrial arts projects displayed for viewing in the foyer of the Middle School before, during and after the show.

“The quality work shows the dedication Havre Public Schools’ students have taken throughout the school year to accomplish these projects,” the release said.

Havre Public Schools’ Superintendent Andy Carlson will address the group, expressing the school district’s appreciation for the senior citizen’s support throughout the years.

The district officials organize the event to show appreciation of the support senior citizens have shown the Havre school districts through the years through votes for mill levies, support of student activities and support of the district in general, the release said.

“Despite no longer having children in public schools, we recognize the value and importance of your involvement in Havre’s youth,” it said.
