North Stars set to play ball tonight

The Havre North Stars American Legion baseball team tried to get their season started last Sunday in Great Falls. Tonight, they'll try again.

After last Sunday's game at the Great Falls Outlaws was canceled, the North Stars will be at home tonight for one game against the outlaws. The first pitch is set for 6 p.m. at Legion Field.

Tonight's game is part of some early-season scheduling changes for head coach Dick Fuzesy's team. The North Stars were originally supposed to make their home debut this coming Sunday but will instead play the Outlaws tonight. The Outlaws are a standout Senior Babe Ruth team out of Great Falls, and are composed mainly of 16-18 year olds.

Tonight's game gets Havre's season underway, but the North Stars have a light schedule coming up.

Havre is set to open Northern District play next Sunday at Tri-County, and that doubleheader will be followed by a trip to play the Missoula Pioneers and the Great Falls Outlaws again on May 29.

Havre's June begins with a conference home set with Fort Macleod June 5, followed by road trips to Lethbridge and Lewistown. The Havre Jamboree is set for June 8-11 and Havre will also host conference games against Tri-County and Great Falls during the month as well as traveling to the TruWealth Financial Tournament in Williston, North Dakota, June 15-18 and the Ed Gallo Wood Bat in Whitefish June 22-25. Havre wraps up June with trips to Medicine Hat and Vauxhall.

July beings with games against Lethbridge at home and Fort Macleod away. The North Stars also host Lewistown July 7, before traveling to Great Falls July 13. Havre wraps up the regular season with games against Vauxhall and Medicine Hat July 14-15. The North Stars will then host the Northern District Tournament starting July 19 at Legion Field.

Havre makes its home and season debut tonight at 6 against the Great Falls Outlaws.
