Quist coming to area as special election campaign winds down

With less than a week left until next Thursday's special election for Montana's lone seat in the U.S House of Representatives, Democratic candidate Rob Quist will be making several stops in this part of Montana, the events page of the Quist campaign website says.

A founder of the Mission Mountain Wood Band and a first-time candidate for political office, Quist is running against 2016 gubernatorial candidate Republican Greg Gianforte of Bozeman and Libertarian candidate Mark Wicks of Inverness in next Thursday's election.

The website says Quist will hold his first event May 19 at 11 a.m. in Hays at the Kills at Night Center. He will appear at the Chinook Motor Inn later at 2:30 p.m. and then the Triple Dog Brewing Co. in Havre at 3:30 p.m. Quist will then visit Box Elder at 5:30 p.m. at a site not yet listed.

Hill County Republican Chair Andrew Brekke said Wednesday that he is not aware of Gianforte scheduling any more stops in Havre ahead of next week's election.

Wicks also said Wednesday he has no campaign events scheduled in the area.
