Three brothers bike through Havre on cross-country fundraiser

Three brothers passed through Havre Tuesday as they ride on Brothers Bike, a cross-country bike ride from Seattle to New York City to raise money and awareness for two causes.

Bobby, Raleigh and Dennis Jenkins are making the 3,500-mile journey, riding about 70 miles a day for the Brothers Bike Fundraiser.

Sandy Jenkins, their mother, and Bobby's daughter Chelsea Jenkins are following behind in a chase vehicle.

The brothers said they hope to reach New York sometime in July.

The Jenkinses are riding to tell people about two charities, the Moss Pieratt Foundation and A Child's Hope.

The Moss Pieratt Foundation is named after Bobby's grandson Moss, who died at 15 months old of Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood. Jenkins said the foundation promotes awareness and raises funds to find a cause or cure for the sudden unexplained death of children over the age of 12 months..

The second organization is A Child's Hope, a home for lost and abandoned children in Haiti started by the Jenkinses. The brothers said they were inspired to start up the orphanage after they visited Haiti in the wake of the 2010 earthquake.

With a Christian foundation, the focus is on education as well as the physical and mental well-being of each child.

People interested in donating to either cause or following the Jenkinses on their cross-country bike ride can do so by visiting their website http://brothersbike.org.
