Northern sets children's diversity camp

Montana State University-Northern is inviting children to a camp it lists as “a golden opportunity to expand multicultural horizons.”

The Diversity Children’s Camp will run Monday through Thursday, June 19-22, from 9 a.m. to noon on Northern’s Havre campus.

Registration is open until Wednesday, June 15, at noon. Registration forms are available online on the Northern Multicultural Center website at http://www.msun.edu/multiculturalcenter or can be requested via email at [email protected], or people can register in person at the center in Room 308 in Cowan Hall on the campus. People are asked to make an appointment to register in person.

The camp is open to students in first grade through sixth grade and the registration fee is $30 for the first child, $2 less for each additional child from the same family.

Activities at the camp include multicultural reading, writing, crafts, international dances, basic French and karate.

People are told the children will be provided water and light refreshments, and people are asked to let the camp director know if they have any allergies.

Children are asked to wear loose, comfortable clothing, with no blue jeans or skirts, Thursday when the karate session will take place.

The children must be picked up from the classroom, Cowan Hall Room 310, at the end of each day. Children will not be allowed to leave by themselves or go to the parking lot to be picked up and only will be released to adults listed as able to pick them up.

The brochure for the camp is also available at the Multicultural Center website.
