Bullhook sets color run for Saturday

Previews activities for National Health Center Week

Bullhook Community Health Center will hold its Second Annual Color Run Saturday, an event that will kick off a week of activities Aug. 13 to 19 to mark National Health Center Week.

“We are doing it just to offer a fun, healthy activity for the Havre community,” Bullhook Executive Assistant Tina Hawkins said.

Participants will be able to take part in either a 1-mile or 5-kilometer route as spectators along both routes throw colored starch at runners. Hawkins said water stations will be set up along the way.

Both routes will start at the medical center parking lot. The 1-mile course will go from the Bullhook parking lot at the corner of Fourth Street and Fifth Avenue across from city hall down Sixth Avenue to Sixth Street to the tennis courts at Havre High School and then back to the medical center. The 5K will then start down Sixth Avenue and go as far as 19th Avenue before returning to the clinic.

Registration will begin at 9 a.m. and at 10 a.m. the race will begin with a small ceremony where participants will throw color at each other and take pictures. A barbecue is set for after the run, Hawkins said.

The cost for participation is $20 for an adult and $10 for a child. Hawkins said $5 will be taken off the price for each adult within a group.

All proceeds from the run will cover the cost to bring the Mammo Bus, a bus from the Kalispell Regional Medical Center, to Bullhook Tuesday to offer mammograms to patients older than 40.

Hawkins said any patients who are uninsured and want a mammogram can be enrolled by staff members in the bus in the Montana Breast and Cervical Cancer Coalition.

Different departments at Bullhook will also be hosting events throughout the week.

For Medication Take Back and Review Day, people can bring medication that is expired or no longer needed to the Bullhook pharmacy Monday between 8:30 a.m and 6 p.m. so pharmacists can look at medications, review them and properly dispose of them

Tuesday is Mammo Bus Day, and in Wednesday’s Dental Day, children from four day cares will take tours of Bullhook’s dental facilities at 10 a.m, 11 a.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. Hawkins said the aim is to show children that dentists are not scary

Thursday has sports physicals discounted from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The medical department is offering the physicals for $20. The cost must be paid at the time.

Friday is dedicated to behavioral health. People can take behavioral health tests from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m in Bullhook’s Jon Tester Conference Room.
