John Pavloviek waits with his granddaughter Ariel Granger to get her student ID. This is a new experience for Granger, she said. She is new to high school and about to start as a freshman. Freshmen and new students have an orientation the first half of the first day Wednesday, with classes starting for all grades after a barbecue in the cafeteria at 11:50 a.m. with all grades invited to the meal.

The new school year is up and running, with some local schools already holding classes and the rest set to start next week.
Chinook, Harlem, Hays-Lodge Pole, Turner, Big Sandy, Rocky Boy Schools, Chester-Joplin-Inverness in Chester and North Star in Gildford and Rudyard started classes this week.
Havre and Box Elder start classes next week.
