East Fork Fire in Bear Paws 8,000 acres, zero percent contained

9:05 a.m. The emergency operation center for the East Fork Fire in the Bear Paw Mountains issued a fact sheet and press release about the fire this morning, saying the fire as of this morning had grown to more than 8,000 acres with zero percent contained and evacuations still in effect as of this morning.

It says the center has reports the fire had not crossed Box Elder Creek as of this morning.

EOC says 130 structures are threatened and seven are reported burned, but confirmation of that is still underway.

The Havre Daily News has unconfirmed rumors that the fire continues to spread in the Bear Paw Mountains south of Havre.

The Havre Daily has not yet been able to receive precise information about the condition of the fire or of property damage or injuries.

A Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation interactive fire map updated as of Wednesday showed two sets of active fires near the Hill County-Blaine County line on Sucker Creek and Little Box Elder Creek.

Local residents are mobilizing to help ranchers in the mountains move stock and people are organizing supply drives for the firefighters, as well as firefighters actually fighting the blaze.

Havre Firefighters have announced they are rescheduling their Fill the Boot drive for the Muscular Distrophy Association to focus their efforts on helping the firefighters fighting the East Fork Fire in the Bear Paw Mountains.
