Hello God. It's me, Mara

Moon and Stars

You know, Lord, occasionally, the moon will drift by the bedroom window and peek in. That happens when the moon is waxing and when there aren’t too many clouds in the way. What an awesome sight to behold. Of course, stepping outside to view the moon and the host of starts above is also a sight to behold. Viewing the cosmic wonder is something hard to describe, for we know that You, Lord, are right there! A breeze crosses our face. We can feel a palpable sense that You are yearning for all of us; You want us to know You, to love You, and know that You love us.

Long ago, when we were kids at home on the ranch, that experience of going outside as the moon was rising could also be heighted by listening to coyotes as they howled in the distance. If we stood in the right place, cottonwood branches etched the air as the silvery moon perched vividly above the horizon.

Another great experience, even in town, when we rose early one morning to water the lawn, there in the eastern sky was one lone bright star surrounded by an awesome array of silvery clouds against a pale blue sky. That was rather an unusual sight to behold. About then, for a few matchless moments, time simply stood still as we felt the profound and fervent hunger that You, our heavenly Father, have for us, Your creation.  It was almost a magical pull toward Your open arms as we felt that You want each of us so much.

We read from Psalm 8:3-4: “When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have set in place, what is mankind that You are mindful of them … ?”

Thank You, Lord, for loving us, for wanting us!

Love, Mara
