Wildlife museum sets 31-day gun raffle

Havre Daily News staff

The Blaine County Wildlife Museum has extended its hours into October— partly with the intent of being available for hunters in the area — and is also raffling off a rifle every day in October.

Tickets are $20 or a book of six for $100, available in Chinook at Jamieson Motors, Triple T Sales and Chinook Tire, Oil, & Lube and in Havre at Western Trailer Sales and Duchscher Insurance Agency. Tickets also can be purchased at the museum during its extended hours, 1 to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, or from any wildlife museum board member.

The guns are listed on the museum website at http://www.bcwildlifemuseum.com/.

The museum opened in 2009 after two decades of preparation. After the Blaine Theater in Chinook closed, the Blaine Bank of Montana donated the building to be used for the wildlife museum.

The museum has extensive displays, and a new addition, The Foothills featuring a bull, cow and calf elk as well as a prairie dog town and several birds, opened in June, as well as a gift shop and information displays.

The museum closes for regular hours from November through May, but people can make appointments for tours by emailing [email protected] or calling manager Tammy Edwards at 357-2385.
