Obituary - Jean L. "Jitter Bug" Belcourt

Jean L. "Jitter Bug" Belcourt, 77, passed away Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017, due to long-standing health complications.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date.

Jean was born Feb. 28, 1940, in Texas to James and Essie (Sullivan) Peacock and grew up in Arizona after her family moved there when she was a little girl. Jean moved to Montana in 1969 with Gerald "Chief" Belcourt to build their lives together, and married a few years later.

A major portion of Jean's life was dedicated to enriching young minds as an educator, teaching English for numerous years before being promoted to principal at Rocky Boy School. She embarked on the adventure of business ownership in 2000, retiring her tenure from education shortly thereafter.

Jean spent her twilight years working at making her business, Jitter Bugs, a success, delighting in winning her poker friends' money at the poker table, traveling for pleasure, and cherishing time spent with her family and friends cheering on the Dallas Cowboys.

She was preceded in death by her father; her mother; her husband, and her sister Joanie Hubbard.

Jean is survived by her daughter, Cindy Ragels; her sons, Norman "Scott" (Melissa) Ragels, Jerry Belcourt and Tony Belcourt; her sister Helen Caudle; her many grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and many, many friends and extended family.

"Mom," as she was affectionately known by many throughout the community, will be deeply missed.

Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with services and arrangements.
