Grief Poem - Show God's Love

You’re missed dear one — you flew away, you were “our” helping hand.

No matter what we do down here, we know you’re where it’s grand.

It’s autumn now, there’re leaves to rake, the colors are pure art.

The grass and trees and mountains, too, God make it from the start

Our homestead is so pretty now, we still can see for miles,

When you were here we had such fun, our guests would be all smiles.

Mourning and grief are hard to bear; we think of you and cry.

We know our life here on this earth is short and then we die.

A burial just buries “tents“ — the soul has gone above.

God still has work for us to do; we are to show His love.

Our dear went first, but till we meet, God gave us a big ‘job;’

To show HIS love and be a friend, we’re not to be a ‘snob’

When one gets saved1 they must believe, invite God in their heart.

He loves us so, He’s got our back; from us He’ll never part.

Be it a week, some months or years, grief ‘road’ is a rough walk.

Can’t change the past; we forage ahead, knowing Christ is our ‘rock’.

So, dear, you’re gone, we’ll carry one, your tent’s just under ground.

We’ll work and love for we do know, some day trumpet will sound!

Then off we’ll fly into the sky to meet all loved ones there.

Those gone before, cheer us: ‘Stay true!’ And daily that’s our prayer.

So — while we wait we’ve work to do, we’ll seek to show God’s love.

The Good Book tells God’s quick return — then soon we’ll be above!
