Hi-Line spikers earn 6C East accolades

There were a lot of strong teams in District 6C East volleyball this season. That was obvious by how intense and exciting last month’s 6C East Tournament in Chester was. But there weren’t just good teams, there were a lot of really good players in the district as well.

Last week, the 6C East released its 2017 All-Conference list, and as expected, many of the top players in Hi-Line volleyball were on it.

North Star had three First-Team All-Conference selections, led by junior Paij Peterson and senior Peytan King. The Knights, who won the 6C East championship this fall, also saw senior Lily Pedersen make the First Team. In all, four Knights made the list, as senior Jewel Wicks was named Second-Team All-Conference.

Chinook had three players make All-Conference this season, led by senior Sierra Swank and junior Kourtney Hanson, who were both named to the First Team. Junior Megan Molyneaux was also a Second-Team selection.

Chester-Joplin-Inverness, which finished runner-up to North Star at last month’s tourney, also had three players honored. Junior Khloe Kamerzell earned First-Team honors, while junior Peyton Hawks and Kim Ghekiere made the second team.

Box Elder’s Lilly Gopher rounded out the First Team, while Big Sandy’s Jaylyn Cline was named to the Second Team.

A pair of 6C standouts were also named Class C All-State for 2017 in Peterson and Swank.
