Janet J. Kardell, 78, of Havre passed away Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017, at Timber Creek Village due to natural causes.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held Friday, Dec. 8, 2017, at 1 p.m. at Holland & Bonine Funeral Chapel with Ila McClenahan officiating.

Memorials in Janet's name may be made to the Northern Montana Care Center, the North Central Senior Citizens Center or the charity of the donor's choice.

Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with services and arrangements.

Janet was born March 5, 1939, to James and Christine (Carpenter) Nethken in Richwood, WV. She was raised and attended school in Richwood, graduating from high school in 1957. Janet then went on to college and earned a degree in nursing. Nov. 17, 1961, Janet Nethken married Martin Kardell in Rantoul, IL, the couple had two children.

Janet was a nurse for the Air Force Nursing Corps achieving a rank of second lieutenant. She was very proud of her service. Over the years she worked as a nurse at the Havre hospital, Lutheran Home, Hill-Blaine County Healthcare and Headstart, and traveled with Star Med in FL, LA, TX, CA, WV, TN and FL. Janet enjoyed playing bingo and doing crossword puzzles, and she was an avid football and NASCAR fan.

Janet is preceded in death by both of her parents; a brother; and a sister.

She is survived by her sons, Martin Kardell Jr. and Greg (Shannon) Kardell both of Havre; sister, Julia Ann Trencott of Craigsville, WV; five grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
