Hi-Line Athletes of the Week

Kobi Burchard, Havre High Swimming

Saturday was senior day for the Havre High swim teams as the Blue Ponies hosted the 2017 Havre Invitational, but a freshman made a big splash for the Ponies. HHS’ Kobi Burchard won the girls 200-meter freestyle with a time of 2:29.19 and followed that up with a second-place finish in the 100 butterfly. It was Burchard’s first high school swim meet, and her 19 points helped the Blue Ponies finish second, only to the Class AA CMR Rustlers.

Ryan Roth, Big Sandy Basketball

Big Sandy’s Ryan Roth got some experience playing high school basketball as an eighth-grader a season ago. Now, he’s playing like a veteran. Roth, a freshman for the Pioneers, buried 10 3-pointers and scored 43 points as Big Sandy beat Dutton-Brady Thursday night at the CJI Preseason Tournament in Chester. Roth came back to score 21 points for the Pioneers Saturday in a loss to North Star. Roth also played football for the Pioneers this fall.
