MFU producer conference set in Havre

Montana Farmers Union is holding their annual Producer Conference Feb. 9-10 at the Great Northern Inn in Havre.

The conference will feature workshops on ag marketing and hedging, farm succession planning, discussion of the 2018 Farm Bill, technology in ranching and the newest crop to hit Montana, industrial hemp.

Attendees will also tour the Peterson Ranch to see how the fourth-generation operation is meeting industry demands.

Workshops and speakers scheduled include:

• Farm Succession Planning, Keith Tokerud

• Beef Producer Panel, Colter Devries of Colt James Ranches and Ashley Callahan of Bear Paw Meats.

• Industrial Hemp with Jeff Kostuik, Hemp Genetics International

• Ag Marketing and Hedging, Jamey Kohake

• Calving Cameras and Drone Technology in Ranching, Dayv Unruh with Timber Mountain Technologies

• Farm Bill discussion

• Friday night: Beef ’N’ Brews event in partnership with Montana State University-Northern Collegiate Stockgrowers

The event is open to the public. Registration cost is $35 without lodgoing for MFU members and $85 with two nights lodging at the Great Nothern Inn.

Cost for nonmembers is $50 without lodging and $100 with two nights lodging at Great Northern Inn.
