    Having a healthy and full lineup makes a big difference in prep wrestling, and having both of those things back in their favor, the Havre High grapplers were back to looking as impressive as any team in the state. A week ago at the Bozeman Invitational, the Central A Blue Ponies finished in eighth place as a team. Due to some sickness and injury, the team was less than 100 percent.     Barbara Ellen Schafer, 61, beloved mother and sister, passed away on Jan. 6, 2014, at her home in Wasilla, Alaska. She died of natural causes. A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, Feb. 1, at 2 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Church in Fort Benton, Mont. Barb was born and raised on a family farm north of Havre, Mont.     Monica M. Lamebull-Werk, 84, of Hays, a retired housekeeper for IHS, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Jan. 10 at her home.   • New doctors to help provide care at Havre vets clinic

    The Veterans Administration says it has been unable so far to fill the slot for a doctor at the Havre VA clinic, but two new doctors coming on board in Billings will help provide care for local patients.   • Highway 87 crash kills 17-year-old

    A Sunday evening crash on an icy patch of Highway 87 south of Havre killed the 17-year-old driver of one vehicle and sent another woman to the hospital, Montana Highway Patrol reports. The Patrol reports that Dusty Lindell Taber, from Shawmut near Harlowton, lost control of a Volvo S80 at 6:17 p.m. Sunday while driving north on U.S. Highway 87 about 15 miles south of Havre.   • Tip It Bar owner wins $100K lottery

    Teresa Roberts of Havre has won a $100,0000 Montana Millionaire prize on a ticket she bought at the Tip It Bar — an establishment she owns. She said she bought the ticket sometime around Nov. 29. “I’m very excited,” Roberts said. “I’m just going to pay off some debts and maybe remodel my house a bit.” Roberts said she plays games like this fairly often.     It was a long layoff for the Havre High boys and girls swim teams. But when the Blue Ponies finally got back in the pool, it was business as usual. Havre had a strong showing at Friday’s Class A Invitational held in Hardin.     Certainly, the Havre High boys basketball team felt a win over the Conrad Cowboys Friday night was of the utmost importance, especially coming off a tough sweep at home last weekend. And though the Blue Ponies got all they could handle from the Cowboys for much of the contest, a win was exactly what they got.
