  • View from the North 40: Right hand doesn't care what the left is doing

    Pam Burke|Updated Jan 25, 2019

Yes, 40 years is a long time to hold a grudge, but I think it’s safe to say, now, that my whole brain can let the resentment go, thanks to some German researchers and a small herd of horses. In 1979 an art teacher named Betty Edwards wrote a book called “Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain” that quickly became a bestseller. Because I was a young artist with some talent I was given a copy. Because I was a bit of a nerdy studier, I devoured the book — the first two chapter...

Also, I always thought Roger was the coolest looking guy I ever saw. I can’t say just how much he meant to me or just how much I liked him, but I would say, anybody who had a connection with Marty should consider themselves very lucky. B. Mollberg Kalispell...

  • Hello God. It's me, Mara.

    Updated Jan 25, 2019

You know, Lord, it’s fascinating when friends share a picture of sunsets, sunrises, and intriguing cloud shapes that they have seen and enjoyed, especially when they entitle it, “View from a front porch rocking chair.” Sharing the photos with a friend, she wondered if the world would be different if every one of us gazed at the lovely evening skies. Now that is a thought, right, Lord? How many of us have seen a shooting star? A few friends have. One gal mentioned that maybe we could have world peace if every one of us would...

  • Out Our Way: God's cell towers - Isaiah 40:31

    Updated Jan 25, 2019

Out our way, the use of cell phones can be limited. I was kidding Charlie about being glad Doc could not be wired from a phone — when his cell phone went off. Big Mike was calling about a missing bull. But where we were in Tiger Ridge did not allow for a clear call, so we had to ride up various ridges until Charlie could get a signal. Now here I am in the city, and while I can usually get a signal, the WiFi is spotty. My laptop went haywire again and I am not sure this will even get through because of it. There are times I r...
