And that’s what eight Montana State University-Northern wrestlers are gunning for this weekend in Topeka, Kans. The 2014 NAIA national tournament begins Friday morning and r...

  • Work, planning, progressing on Beaver Creek Park

    Tim Leeds|Updated Mar 6, 2014

While use of the park has not been in high swing in the last few weeks, planning and preparing for work at Beaver Creek Park has been. Park Superintendent Chad Edgar told the Hill County Park Board Monday night that ice fishermen and a few snowmobilers have used the park recently, but not much else. “The snow just won’t go away,” he added. But work on the park has been happening, including bids being let out for projects to repair flood damage on the park last year and in previous years. The president declared Beaver Creek...

  • Transit sees success, new bus added

    John Paul Schmidt|Updated Mar 6, 2014

North-Central Montana Transit is still going strong and is looking to the future for ways to expand their services to the people of the Hi-Line. Jim Lyons, the director of NCMT, said the transit system is doing better than officials thought it would when they started five years ago. The transit will soon be receiving a new bus, Lyons said. This bus will be better than what the NCMT currently runs, with under-the-carriage luggage storage, room for 37 passengers, power strips,...

  • Lucke compiles Beaver Creek history

    Tim Leeds|Updated Mar 6, 2014

A member of the Hill County Park Board presented some history of the 10,000-acre county park, from before it became a county park and much before it was an official park at all. Robbie Lucke said he had dug through archives at the Havre-Hill County Library and compiled writing by the “father of the park,” Havre businessman L.K. Devlin, and Havre historian Earl J. Bronson. “It’s a very old park history I found in bits and pieces at the library,” Lucke said Monday during the county park board meeting. The use of the park as a...

Rain started falling over night, turning to sleet and snow early in the morning. National Weather Service issued freezing rain advisories from the Rocky Mountain Front along...

  • Rocky Boy, Harlem take a shot at Northern B

    George Ferguson|Updated Mar 6, 2014

It hasn’t happened often, but both the Rocky Boy Morning Stars and the Harlem Wildcats made it happen this season. Both girls basketball teams will get to play in the Northern B Divisional tournament. The Northern B, which starts today and runs through Saturday in Conrad, is easily the most difficult divisional tournament in Class B, and that’s simply because the top two programs in Class B, the Fairfield Eagles and Malta M-Ettes both reside in the Northern B.
