  • East tank water leak shuts down streets

    A major water leak detected yesterday at 3 p.m. in the water tank located on the east end of Havre and has shut down streets and rerouted Havre Public Schools buses. Havre Public Works Director Dave Peterson said the water is leaking from a new manway, a metal access port. Public Works recently finished Phase Two of the city water tank maintenance plan, recoating the east water tank last year and recoating the west in 2017.   • Museum board seeks restitution from suspected attempted burglar

    Security was an issue discussed Monday during the H. Earl Clack Memorial Museum Board meeting, as board Chair Lela Patera said that Sunday an unidentified man attempted to break into the museum. The suspect failed to successfully break into the museum and only ended up damaging the door lock mechanism, she said, adding that the board is filing charges and asking for restitution.     Fish, Wildlife and Parks Region 6 wildlife biologist Scott Hemmer said Monday that during the upcoming hunting season, FWP will once again be testing Region 6 for chronic wasting disease and will have transportation restrictions from Liberty County to the North Dakota border.     After nearly two decades of an international committee comprising members from Montana and Alberta trying to get the hours and status ugraded at the Port of Wildhorse north of Havre on the Canadian border, U.S. Customs and Border Protection announced it is going the other direction on other ports.
