Last season, she was one of the team's regular starting pitchers, as well as an outfielder. But now, as a senior and one of its best hurlers, her role is even more impo...

  • Leter to the Editor: Montanans shouldn't vote blindly

    Updated Apr 12, 2017

Editor, Why not vote for Gianforte? Both candidates wear cowboy hats, but there is nothing of significance under Gianforte’s hat, just another rich guy trying to buy a political seat. We have a candidate in Rob Quist who has traveled the state as an emissary of good will for all Montanans, not just the rich ones. Superpacs for Ryan and Zinke have poured money for some fearful, paranoid ads about liberals. They think that throwing money around is all it takes for Montanans to vote blindly. I think Montanans are smarter than t...

  • Leter to the Editor: Is Montana congressional seat for sale?

    Updated Apr 12, 2017

Editor, In following our current congression-al contest closely one must question — is this Montana office for sale to the highest bidder? Rob Quist’s opponent and backers are once again spending millions trying to buy another Montana leadership post with clever corporate TV ads filled with falsity attempting to smear Mr. Quist. Gianforte boasts he cannot be bought because of his personal wealth. For more than 40 years I have observed the way Rob Quist treats his family, friends and neighbors — always with courage, hones...

Editor, All of us who work with abused and neglected children want to thank the Havre Daily News for your coverage of the Pinwheel Garden in recognition of National Child Abuse Prevention Month. Child abuse can be easy to ignore, and — as with all the coverage HDN gives CASA — we genuinely appreciate the extra attention. Updated Apr 12, 2017

Not only does the weed, kochia, ignore his property lines, but Hansen said it persists in his area of the Hi-Line because some of the plants have become resistant to the chemical that was most successful at killing it. “When we find something that works,...
