  • One special child

    Updated Dec 20, 2016

There are many lenses to witness the magic of Christmas, but the most powerful ones focus on the Christ child. Jesus entered the world as a helpless infant, born into a soon-to-be-refugee family, who would live in the shadow of danger his entire life. Considering the trauma surrounding his youth, is it any wonder that Jesus spoke out for the child throughout his life? Of course, Jesus had an extraordinary mother, always nearby and ready to protect him … but there are children in Hill County who aren’t so lucky. Abused and...

  • Hi-Line Girls Roundup: Thunderbirds score a huge District 9C win

    George Ferguson|Updated Dec 20, 2016

In just its second week of the season, girls high school basketball along the Hi-Line took a back seat to the first big winter blast of the year. Cancellations around the area over the weekend meant more games weren't played than were this weekend. Still, a few teams managed to get games in. Friday night, a big upset took place in Chinook as the Hays-Lodge Pole Thunderbirds rallied to beat the Chinook Sugarbeeters 46-41 in Chinook. Behind a big game from Rayleigh Kirkaldie,...

  • Lights perform in Reno

    George Ferguson|Updated Dec 20, 2016

The Montana State University-Northern Lights seemed to hit their stride on the mat last Thursday night when they scored a big road win at Southern Oregon. Still, the Ice Hawks (0-6) had some strong play and some good moments during their first home stand of the season. Sunday, Havre goalie Kinzee Peterson saved a remarkable...

  • Hi-Line Boys Roundup: Winter disrupts high school hoops

    Chris Peterson|Updated Dec 20, 2016

It was a wild weekend of high school basketball and the craziness had nothing to do with what happened on the court and everything to do with freezing temperatures and inclement weather. Due to the snow and the sub-zero temperatures, many games along the Hi-Line that were supposed to be played, were postponed. It started with Rocky Boy and Conrad calling things off Thursday night and continued Friday, when Box Elder and Chester-Joplin-Inverness postponed their games, along...
