    BILLINGS (AP) - Montana is joining North Dakota and South Dakota as states that plan to curtail sage grouse hunting in response to a continued decline in the game bird's population. Montana wildlife commissioners on Thursday gave tentative approval to a proposal to cancel or scale back a two-month hunting season slated to open in September.   • Mock trial teaches students about courts

    Havre eighth-graders got first-hand experience Wednesday in Havre City Court of the legal results of drinking and driving. The students participated in two mock trials, with eighth-graders themselves in the roles of judge, jury, prosecution and defense in the trials of Lucas Ames - a Havre police officer who came into court on his day off to serve as the defendant in the trials.   • Chinook has water - but don't drink it

    After being without running water for around a day, Chinook's dry spell has been reversed. Chinook's running water has been restored, but the city has been put under a state of emergency until tests on the water has been completed. "There was probably about a softball-sized hole in the main line out of the plant," Chinook Mayor Keith Hanson said. Hanson added that the break was caused by old piping. The Ponies finished the season with a 3-5 conference record and enter the second annual Central A Divisional tournament as the No. 4 seed.   • Cape Air grounds some flights due to hail damage

    After an update Wednesday, the air carrier that serves Havre has grounded some more flights but has replacement aircraft on the way to resume full service. Erin Hatzell of Cape Air told the Havre Daily News Wednesday afternoon that the airline, which took over federally subsidized Essential Air Service in Montana in December, decided to pull six airplanes damaged in a severe storm Sunday in Billings out of service.   • MAT opens 'Baby with the Bathwater' Friday

    Montana Actors' Theatre is opening a comedy - with some serious undertones - about a person dealing with parents who don't know how to deal with a child. "Baby with the Bathwater" opens Friday. Patrick Ulano, who also acts in the production, is directing the play, written by Christopher Durang in 1983.
