  • Phillips County deputy shoots, kills man who attacked him

      MALTA — A Phillips County sheriff’s deputy shot and killed a suspicious man Wednesday morning. The Montana Department of Justice said the man had repeatedly stabbed Deputy Alan Guderjahn before the deputy fired back at him. The deputy was responding of a call of a suspicious man near Mile Marker 122 on U.S.Highway 191 southwest of Malta. The deputy is in Great Falls undergoing treatment.     A father and son riding a tandem bicycle from North Dakota to Washington state arrived in Havre Tuesday. Chris Fowler, 59, and Gordon Fowler, 27, were spotted Tuesday afternoon about five miles east of Havre on U.S. Highway 2.
