    Paul Dragu|Updated Aug 7, 2017

For decades, Rudyard has been identified by its highway signs - one at the edge of town, one on U.S. Highway 87 near Loma by a road that cuts to the small Hi-Line town of Rudyard- as being a town full of nice people and "1 Old Sore Head." Those signs have been updated over the years, with the current version...

A Chinook woman has invited a California dog trainer to Havre to help meet demand for those seeking quality dog training sessions. I just thought this would help. Jackson has nearly two decades...

    Paul Dragu|Updated Aug 4, 2017

School is set to begin in just weeks, and some people are organizing supply drives to help needy children alleviate the burden of meeting supply demands. The community response was overwhelming, she said, and she was able to to give to all the schools in the area. She practically cleared out the school supply aisle at Walmart last year, she said. • If good luck is all you have, take it

    Pam Burke|Updated Aug 4, 2017

“Well, that was a lucky water break.” Trust me, if you have to say you had a water break, it’s best to have a lucky one. Way back in the early days of Pam and John, we had a water break under the trailer house we were living in. It flooded the pit that the water cistern was in under the house. The temperature was 50 degrees below zero. The water break was inside the pit of water. That was not a lucky water break. Last winter we had a water main break somewhere in the 400 f...

  • Grief Poem - We don't forget

    Updated Aug 4, 2017

The day you left just broke my heart but love’s still safe inside. You’re missed so much, more every day, though part of me has died. Its been some years since you’re been gone, you’re greatly missed each day. Our heart does ache, it’s lonely here since you were called away. If ‘memory gates’ don’t ever close, we’re never far apart. We won’t forget that we love you; you’re ever in our heart. Our home’s lonely without you dear; life’s simply not the same. When God calls us to come on home, we’ll see you once again! The ‘li...

  • Hello God. It's me, Mara

    Updated Aug 4, 2017

You know, Lord, several friends chatted about how life, right now, felt like a zoo. One gal shared this poem: ‘When Life is a Zoo’ – author unknown. “When the ark started rolling they learned the hard way, how a seasick hippo can spoil your day. “The turtles refused to come out of their shells. The bloodhounds were sneezing because of the smells. “The lovebirds were fighting; the doves were at war. A sow was complaining her mate was a bore. “A porcupine mister was hurt by his miss when he got over eager attempting a...

  • Out Our Way: Along the Covenant Trail with Goliath

    Updated Aug 4, 2017

Out our way, we know that horses tend to be herd animals, staying together for safety. But we also know that very often there can be a much deeper bond - "stable or paddock mates" - that really do not feel whole apart from each other. Goliath and Babe are like that. If I take Goliath out and leave Babe, they both start calling out to each other. When we come back, Babe is standing at the gate, ears forward, tossing her head and singing out for Goliath, who answers at once....

  • 2017 Frontier Conference Football Preview: Defensive Backs

    George Ferguson|Updated Aug 4, 2017

Whether an offense is airing it out, or running all over the field, defensive backs are a team’s last line of defense. And in the Frontier Conference, as is the case all across NAIA football, defensive backs need to be able to cover both. The Frontier has plenty of standout defensive backs coming back for the 2017 season. At Montana State University-Northern, the secondary has been young over the last several years, and it will likely be again this season, as Northern g...
