  • The night HLP has been waiting for

    Chris Peterson|Updated Feb 27, 2017

GREAT FALLS — It didn’t take a genius to know that Saturday night’s Northern C championship game between Box Elder and Hays-Lodge Pole was going to be a classic. All the ingredients were there. Two great teams, two great coaches and an electric atmosphere. Throw in the element of champion vs challenger and the makings of an all-time classic were all there. And if I can speak for the thousands in attendance at the Four Seasons Arena in Great Falls Saturday, it’s safe to say...

    Paul Dragu|Updated Feb 27, 2017

No charges had been filed as of Friday involving a potential shooting threat that led to police officers being stationed in all Havre public schools, and Havre’s chief of police said the investigation is ongoing. Chief Gabe Matosich said Thursday that a lot of work goes into determining whether the threats made can be considered credible. It’s not as easy as charging someone for saying something, he added. “You have to break it down,” he said. You have to look at all the elements of the statute, and then you have to have pr...

  • Lights lose scrapes with Dawgs, Bears

    George Ferguson|Updated Feb 27, 2017

A win over the UM-Western Bulldogs probably wouldn’t have changed the MSU-Northern Lights’ position in the final Frontier Conference standings. But, it would have certainly helped the Lights in the race to secure an at-large berth to the NAIA national tournament. And, Northern knew, having beaten the Bulldogs in Dillon just three weeks ago, the Lights could do it again. But, on the strength of 10 Bulldogs 3-pointers and 31 points by little giant Dom Robinson, the Bulldogs tur...

However, thanks to the Ponies' 48-37...

Thanks to a herculean effort from Natalee Faupel, the No. 15 Skylights completed the trifecta over No. 20 Western with a...
