Local Democrats are hosting their spring Pam Hillery-Toni Hagener fundraiser Tuesday at the Havre Eagles Club, with some local candidates to speak on their campaigns. Rep. Local comedians will be giving a performance Saturday, in hopes of supporting and raising some money for the Great Northern Fairgrounds. At 7 p.m. the Community Center at the fairgrounds will play host to Funnies for the Fair, put together by community member Paul Verity. Verity said he was inspired to organize a show after he met James DeRosier, a Chinook man who organized a similar show to support the Blaine County Fair. “He was a major inspiration,” he said. The Hill County Election Department and the Chippewa Cree Tribe have reached an agreement for an alternative voting office for the 2018 Federal Primary Election. Hill County will have an alternative voting office open Wednesdays May 23, and 30. It will be in the Kenawash Building at the New Stone Child College, 8294 Upper Box Elder Road. Tonight, Havre Middle School is presenting a show put on by a new class offered this year for sixth-grade students, Musical Drama. Two different classes were offered during the year, one presenting the musical “Alice in Wonderland, Jr.” in January. Lola Margaret Kidd Vogel, age 95, passed away from natural causes April 18, 2018, in Houston, Texas. She had resided in assisted living near her younger daughter for the past few years. Lola was born to James W. and Lulu M. (Zabel) Kidd, in Havre, Montana March 30, 1923. She lived her school years on a homestead farm near Gildford, MT, where she graduated from high school. The Havre High track teams both took part in the two-day Eastern A Divisional track meet in Glendive over the weekend and even though the Blue Ponies didn’t make a run at either team title, HHS got some kids on the podium and even more advanced to State A track. For the better part of three decades now, the Havre High tennis teams have been a stalwart in the Central A Division. And, after two days in Bozeman, the Blue Ponies proved, nothing changed in 2018.
