On Friday night at the Blue Pony Stadium, HHS shut out Eastern A rival Glendive 33-0, improving to 1-2-1 on the season. While HHS played a brilliant defensive game, the Pony offense busted loose too. • Game Day feature: Varner lets his game do the talking

    George Ferguson|Updated Sep 20, 2013

Cornerback is as flashy a position as there is in college football. And the job is quite simple. Cover speedy receivers trying to run by you, don’t let them get their hands on the ball, tackle any other ball carrier that comes your way. It’s a simple job in theory, but it’s considered one of the single most difficult positions to play. And that’s probably why star NFL corners get paid the really big bucks, and why those same stars are some of the flashiest, cockiest, and mos... Full story

  • Friday Night Lights: The Future

    Daniel Horton|Updated Sep 20, 2013

There are not a lot of towns or cities in Montana that offer full contact, tackle football below the middle school age level. But the city of Havre is not one of those without, as Havre is fortunate enough to have the Lil’ Ponies football program for the last 10 years. The Lil’ Ponies got started by the likes of Phil Stokes and Scott Filius, and it has been going strong ever since. And Havre’s fourth, fifth, and sixth graders have the opportunity to play just like their Havre... Full story

  • Pony spikers on the road

    Daniel Horton|Updated Sep 20, 2013

Wins have been hard to come by for the Havre High volleyball team this season, but hopefully this weekend will change that. After a couple of tournaments the last two weekends, two matches on the road seems like a relatively light weekend, but facing two very good Class A programs, there will be nothing easy about Saturday’s matchups. Last weekend, the Central A Ponies played in Great Falls at the Electric City Classic, playing nine matches. Saturday, they will be in Lewistown where they will play two non-conference o... Full story

  • Homecoming: Lights rematch with Hawks

The round-robin schedule in Frontier Conference football has been altered, but divisional opponents still play each other twice a season. • Remember when... Beating Glendive sparked the ride

    Daniel Horton|Updated Sep 20, 2013

There have been a lot of important games and landmark wins in the Havre High football program’s history, and nine years ago, the first home game of the 2004 season was one of the biggest. Now, the Blue Ponies and Glendive Red Devils don’t meet very often, but back in the day, these two teams used to clash on the gridiron quite a bit, and even battled for the coveted Moore Trophy. In 2004 the meeting between the Ponies and Red Devils went in Havre’s favor, but more impor... Full story

Sadly, my family is no different, and I am a favorite victim. One of their favorites about me is about how “Pam, when she was just learning to walk — my gaawd, what a spectacle.
