    Rosetta M. Montes, 69, of Rocky Boy passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2014, at Northern Montana Hospital of natural causes. Wake services will begin at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 2, 2014, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Rocky Boy, and will continue until her traditional funeral service, which will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct 3, 2014.     Stu McIntosh is an avid antique tractor collector, but because he has had trouble working on them, he is selling his 26-piece collection. In Big Sandy, Oct. 18, McIntosh's tractors that have decorated his neighborhood east of the high school, will be up for auction.   • Park fundraiser set for Saturday

    A group organized to help Beaver Creek Park is moving its third annual fundraiser off the park, with "Fall in Love with Beaver Creek Park" starting Saturday afternoon in Havre. Ursula Brese of Friends of Beaver Creek Park said the group decided to hold its fundraiser at the Eagles Club to make it easier to attend the event, which includes a prime rib dinner and live and silent auctions.   • FWP asks for help with poached deer

    Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks is seeking information regarding a whitetail deer doe that was killed two miles north of Kremlin. FWP said that on Sept. 2, a red pickup was seen chasing a deer through stubble and standing crop fields. The deer was killed and dragged for nearly 4.5 miles. Upon reaching a series of grain bins, the deer was discarded and left to waste.   • Railroad crossing upgrade planned west of Havre

    Plans are in the works to install gates and lights at a railroad crossing west of Havre, as well as upgrading the crossing, and the Montana Department of Transportation is seeking comments on the proposal. MDT announced in a press release that the plans are a cooperative project between the department, Hill County and BNSF Railway Co. with MDT paying for the signal system - flashing lights and gates - and part of the cost of installing two 32-foot concrete crossing surfaces... Full story

    Tonight, there will be a bonfire at the Great Northern Fairgrounds, which is yet another Havre High School homecoming tradition being revived this year. “They’re just trying to get the school spirit back at Havre High and let the kids have fun,” said Lisa Kudrna, parent of an HHS student.   • Boys & Girls Club backpack program proves to be a success

    This summer, the Boys & Girls Club of the Hi-Line became the first club in Montana to provide backpack meals to needy members, thanks to concerned community members. The Save Our Souls Committee of Van Orsdel United Methodist Church has been running a food pantry to assist the poor for years.
