  • Looking out my Backdoor: My 'almost-Mexican' fiesta

    Sondra Ashton|Updated Nov 15, 2019

This was not my idea, to have a party. It was sloppily put together. Any party, even pot luck, takes a lot of work. I didn't really want to do it. I was tired and in pain from the long bus ride. Bah humbug. I rode the bus, one more trip to Mazatlan. In the four-year process, all that was left for me to do was pick up the card moving me from temporary to permanent status as a resident. This is not citizenship. I'm not dual. Too old to think about that. In October, the senorita...

  • Letter to the Editor - Montana politics

    Updated Nov 14, 2019

Editor, It was with amusement that I read the Havre Daily News article Oct. 7 quoting Rep. Jacob Bachmeier, D-Havre, basically blasting Public Service Commissioner Randy Pinocci for having an opinion Bachmeier didn’t like, and expressing that opinion. For those of you that don’t know Randy, he is anything except unopinionated. He delivers on his promise to be non-partisan in attacking anyone suspected wrongdoing. I am a lifelong Democrat and proud of it. I even supported Randy’s opponent in the last election. But havin...

    George Ferguson|Updated Nov 14, 2019

The Montana State University-Northern women's basketball team is right in the middle of what head coach Chris Mouat referred to as a "gauntlet" before the season began. The gauntlet started with an exhibition game loss at the University of Montana, and will end with an exhibition game at Montana State University. But in between, the Skylights have looked awfully good on their three-game home stand, and they hope, Friday afternoon's capper on the homestead is more of the same....

Starting today in Bozeman, the Fort Benton Longhorns will compete in the Class C state tournament, as the champion of the Northern C. Fort Benton lost just two regular season matches this season, and only two teams all year have beaten the Longhorns - District 7C rival Belt, and Chinook....
