New Years baby arrives

A bundle of gifts greeted a bundle of joy at Northern Montana Hospital Wednesday as the first baby of the third millennium posed for pictures with her mother.

Ahmya Connie Jo Windy Boy, the newborn daughter of Tygar Denny and Curtis Windy Boy of Rocky Boy was born at 12:10 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001.

She weighed in at 8 pounds, 1 ounce and measured 21 inches.

Denny said she chose the name Ahmya just because she liked the sound.

"I'm just happy she's here and healthy," Denny said.

Kathie Newell, public relations manager for Northern Montana Health Care (NMHC), presented Denny with a diaper bag, handcrafted by Northern Montana Care Center Director Lori Henderson, that was filled with toys and other items selected for their safety features.

An assortment of Havre Area Chamber of Commerce gift certificates were also provided by NMHC.

Denny is also the mother of a 17-month-old son who she said had already visited his new sister, hugged her, and gave his approval welcoming her into the family.

Denny said she considers giving birth to the first baby of the new millennium to be good luck.

Dr. Frank Miller was Denny's physician and Dr. Bruce Richardson is the baby's physician.
