ALICE YELLOW WOLF, Obituary

BOX ELDER Alice Yellow Wolf, 72, also known by her Indian name, Mi Wah Tis, which means Kind One, died Thursday, March 14, 2002, at her residence of natural causes.

The wake began at 6 p.m. Thursday at Janet Bacon's residence in Box Elder and was to be moved to Our Saviour's Lutheran Church at Rocky Boy at 10 a.m.

today. Funeral service is scheduled for 9 a.m. Saturday at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Rocky Boy with Pastor Ruth Votaw officiating. Burial is to follow at Rocky Boy Cemetery. Fellowship to follow burial at the church.

Alice was born Sept. 27, 1929, at Rocky Boy to Joe Day Child and Short Arms Indian-Wolf Child. She attended schools at Rocky Boy. In the early 1940s, she married Paul Little Son at Rocky Boy. They had one child. The couple later divorced. In the mid-1940s, she married Albert Bacon. They had seven children. Two of these children have preceded her in death. The couple later divorced. In the late 1940s, she married Bert Yellow Wolf. They had one daughter.

Alice loved beading and teaching her family how to bead. She enjoyed cooking and teaching her family how to cook. She was a member of the Morning Star Native American singing group for powwows. She attended powwows regularly.

She was preceded in death by her ex-husband, Albert Bacon; husband, Bert Yellow Wolf; parents, Joe Day Child and Short Arms Indian-Wolf Child; son, Manual Bacon; daughter, Gail Bacon Burbank.

She is survived by her brothers, Henry Wolf Child Sr. of Rocky Boy, William Day Child of Phoenix; sisters, Lorraine Bushman of Rocky Boy, Bernice Singer

of Billings, Marjorie Day Child of Mesa, Ariz .; daughters

Janet Bacon of Box Elder, April Fox of New Town, N.D., Emily Yellow Wolf of Mandaree, N.D .; sons, Frank Bacon of Rocky Boy, Alan Bacon of Mandaree, N.D., Henry Day Child of Rocky Boy, Manley Bacon of Mandaree, N.D .; 47 grandchildren; 82 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; extended family of Big Bows and Andersons.

Services and arrangements are under the direction of the Holland and Bonine Funeral Home.
