March is American Red Cross month

The entire month of March is billed as Red Cross Month. However, the Bears Paw District of the American Red Cross is planning special activities in Hill and Blaine counties for the week of March 17-23.

All during that week there will be Red Cross displays in the Holiday Village Shopping Center. Displays will cover health and safety, first aid supplies, statistics for disasters in this area, along with information about the Red Cross and the armed forces. Pictures of the Red Cross in action in Hill and Blaine counties will be included.

During Red Cross Week in Hill and Blaine counties, a new program called "Dining Out for Red Cross" will be featured.

All area restaurants have been contacted and most have agreed to share the proceeds of their sales on March 21-23.

Red Cross chair Vicke Larson has contacted most of the restaurants.

"We hope they will contribute a portion of their sales during those days," she said. "My encouragement is for the local community to really come out and support these businesses who have offered help in supporting the activities we do in our office."

How can a diner tell what restaurants are participating in the Red Cross dining experience?

"That's easy," said executive director Hannah Bryeans. "Participating restaurants will have Red Cross table tents and big Red Cross posters on their doors."
