Music festival features pianists

The 30th annual Havre Area Federation Music Festival is scheduled for March 23 in rooms 208 and 213 of Pershing Hall on the Montana State University-Northern campus. The festival will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with sessions beginning every hour except noon.

The festival is sponsored by the Havre Area Music Teachers' Association in conjunction with the Montana and National Federation of Music Clubs.

Nearly 60 students from Havre, Turner, Harlem, Zurich and Chinook will perform piano solos, duets, trios and vocal solos. The students are rated on their performance individually in the areas of talent, musicianship, technique, accuracy and poise.

Adjudicators for the festival will be Nancy Murdock from Whitewater and Elizabeth Atchley from Malta.

Teachers with students performing in the festival are Cathy Lee, Lorenne Rundquist, Marge Holt, Ellena Nelson, Jan Flatau and Jan Wiberg of Havre, and Julie Finley, Karen Hellman and Heidi Mack of Chinook.

Students unable to schedule their performances on March 23 will perform on March 26 at the Chinook High School.

The public is invited.
